what is the correct version of java for win 98? it will not install from upgrade disk.?
I upgraded on win98 cd a friend burned for me but java mgr.says java pkgs.will not install,I went to sun and got most current version 5 update 6 but, it says is not recommened for this system so I took it out and installed java runtime enviorment standard edition v.1.31_17 it works but is extremely slow at loading applets etc.yahoo game applets wont download for me,does having a certain version of java affect everything else? I would be grateful for any help.

Why can I not load the spades games?
I have turn off all pop-ups and closed all firewalls. I have java sun2 and adobe acrobat. I need to know what else can I do to be able to play a game in either yahoo games or pogo games. I am having the same trouble in pogo as well. It says I’m either behind a firewall or I’m not connected to the internet or the server is down, obviously I am connected to the internet and I would like to know what else could it be that keeps my computer from playing a card game on-line? Thank you Sonja
