My Playstation 2 wont play my Final Fantasy 8 PS1 game. It isnt scratched up that bad. What should i do?

I’ve tried cleaning the disc. It will say on the browser “Playstation Game”. I click it and it just stays black forever. Never loads it. Sometimes it will say “Please enter a Playstation 2 or Playstation format disk.”
It’s the real version, not burned. My PS2 has not been modified. Ive tried cleaning it. Still dont work.

Question about xbox 360?
ok i want both a ps3 and an xbox 360. with the xbox the one with all the extra stuff. how do you pay for xbox live? is it with your internet or is it seperate? is it worth the money? im set up on a wireless network connection with a dsl box downstairs can i still use xbox live? for some reason i feel loyal to playstation and don’t want to sell all of my games and stuff?
